Benefits of Eating Together
Here are a couple of reasons why having meals as a family is important and beneficial to everyone’s health.
With today’s busy society; parents working long hours, children involved with extracurricular activities after school and the go-go attitude, mealtime could be the only time you have to spend some quality time with each other and catch up talk about one’s day.
It’s also an important time you can help your children develop healthy eating habits. For example, when making meals you can replace bread items with whole grain tortilla or pita, or if you serve milk or water with your meal, your child is less likely to drink soda when they get older.
If your children are younger you can keep them interested in eating healthier by using a variety of cookie cutters to keep the shapes of certain foods fun and entertaining.
Keep your kids involved with what they eat by creating a list of healthy things they enjoy and look for them together while at the grocery store.
Having a busy schedule doesn’t mean we need to rush family quality time or deprive ourselves of proper nutritional value.
