A Good Nights Sleep, How Important?

Sleep is just as essential for our life as the food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe.  When we sleep we are allowing time for our body and mind to rest and restore energy.

Studies have shown that with the lack of sleep we leave ourselves susceptible to sicknesses, even the common cold due to a weakened immune system.  Not only does this weaken our immune system but we will find ourselves with elevated stress levels, memory problems, and even increasing our risk of sustaining injury at work or an automobile accident.

No one wants to be causing such harm to themselves, so here are a couple of helpful tips to get those z’s we all need.

  • Avoid caffeine and nicotine in the evening to avoid interrupted sleep.
  • Avoid napping during the day time hours.
  • Create an environment that is calming, inviting, and comfortable for your bedroom.
  • Try to clear your mind and leave tomorrows issues to tomorrow.
  • And never forget moms advice to try a cup of warm milk or herbal mint tea before going to bed.
